Kids Helping Kids - TAC's Community Outreach Program
Puppy Love Project
March 2011
Three of our Schererville sites (Homan, Peifer and Watson) raised $1,300.00 for the Perry Ferrini Dog Park. On Valentines Day all three sites held an auction. The kids at each site auctioned off a hand-tied fleece blanket, that they made together and gave away a big headed stuffed Dog - they named Clancy (see picture). One dollar donations would get their name in the Dog House for the drawing to win the Big Headed Mascot.
They also raised money by selling hand-made calendars, dog bowls, personalized dog scarves, and spiked rubber bracelets. As part of our "Kids Helping Kids" program, The Adventure Club has always raised money for needy children, babies, families. This is the first time we raised money to help dogs. They had a blast!!!

Shop With A Cop
December 22, 2010
The spirit of giving seems to flourish during the holidays - but the before- and after-school kids of The Adventure Club, based in Schererville, did not wait for the holidays to catch the spirit of giving. Several times a year the "Kids Helping Kids" segment of The Adventure Club reaches out to touch the lives of children both near and far.
This year, TAC students and staff enjoyed raising money for the local Shop-With-A-Cop program sponsored by the Local 72 of the Lake County Police Association. During TAC's summer program, students participated in music lessons, basketball and cheerleading camps to gear up for their grand finales. Parents and fellow students were entertained as the new-found...read more
Need A Hug
August 2011
The Adventure Club at Kolling Elementary School donates to The United Way "Need A Hug" program.
The stuffed animals will go to elementary schools to promote reading, and is also used to comfort children in crisis.. This was just one of The Adventure Club's "Kids Helping Kids" program endeavors. The Adventure Club has also raised over 1800 can goods for the Northwest Indiana Food Bank to feed families for Thanksgiving.
They are also helping to raise money for the Salvation Army, by having a silent auction along with team members signing up to be "Bell Ringers". The Adventure Club, before and after school care, always strives to make a difference in the lives of others.

Backpack Drive
November 21, 2009
What better way to teach compassion than to have kids helping kids. Recently, The Adventure Club’s staff and children campaigned for school-aged children of the Sojourner Truth House, a safe haven for battered women and children in Gary, to fill 53 book bags with back to school necessities.
Above, Adventure Club children from Peifer Elementary School in Schererville represent the more than 1,100 Adventure Club children in Lake Central, Griffith, Munster, Tri-Creek, and Hammond school districts who generously donated new supplies, worked to sort, organize and fill each book bag, and sent 53 children in Northwest Indiana to school this year prepared for success.
Diaper Drive
December 28, 2009
The opportunity to provide necessities for underprivileged newborns and infants was all it took to get The Adventure Club students motivated. Through the generous donations of staff and parents throughout TAC’s 13 locations in the Lake Central, Munster, Griffith, Hammond and Tri-Creek school districts, they were able to purchase and fill 50 diaper bags with diapers (1,538 to be exact), changing pads, rattles, bottles, bibs and wipes for the Sojourner Truth House in Gary, a safe-haven for battered women and children from Northwest Indiana.
Students at Watson Elementary School in Schererville, above, collected the largest amount of donations and volunteered to sort and pack each of the 50 diaper bags. "We are proud of TAC’s students and applaud them for touching the lives of 50 newborn babies and infants during the holiday season," said Sandy Langbehn of TAC.
